Problem with Billion router after using MWconn

Beitrag von Colin 2905 » Sa 27. Aug 2011, 02:29

Hi,

My German is not as good as it should be, so I'm posting in the English area......

I've been a long time user of MWconn, and really appreciate the effort that has gone into it, but I recently encountered a problem. I've found that if I take a Huawei E160E or K3765 that has been used with MWconn, it won't work in my Billion 7402GXL router unless I disable the "fake CD", using one of the AT^U2DIAG=n options (eg; n=0 or n=256).

More info here...... http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-re ... ?t=1756404

Does anyone know what MWconn is writing to the E160E / K3765 that might be causing this, and is there a way of "undoing" it?

Danke im Voraus,

Colin

OK, trying Englisch ... ;) Are you sure, it is an effect of using MWconn? As far as I know, this behavior is normal. So you have to disable the "faked" CD-ROM, if you want to use E160- or K3765-HV-Hardware connected to some Routers, but i.e. for the first time of using only ...

Hi Lagoon, thanks for your reply.

Yes, I'm sure that it's something that MWconn does. I bought another E160E whilst they were still on special for AUD$19, confirmed that it worked OK on my Billion 7402GXL before doing anything else with it, then set about trying to find the cause of the problem, one step at a time.

That E160E would still work OK in the Billion, regardless of what else I used it in and with, until I used it with MWconn. Once I'd used it with MWconn, it stopped working properly in the Billion. The only way to get it working with the Billion again was to issue an AT^U2DIAG=0 or AT^U2DIAG=256 (to disable the "fake CD"), just like my other two E160E's and my K3765.

I hope this is the best place to ask this...

I have set up a server at home for my forum. The router I am running (a Linksys WRT54GL, flashed with DD-WRT) seems to be keeping up with the current demand, but as we grow, I know I'm going to have to upgrade. I don't want to go full out with a Cisco yet, so, do any of you guys have a recommendation about which router out there can handle the traffic from a forum?

greetings

It looks like my having Win 2008 r2 sp1 might be causing the BTW install to barf with the "Setup has detected an incompatible version of Windows" error. Any chance you can update the installer for 2008 R2 SP1, AsciiWolf?

Thanks!
