HP Laptop v2 gobi drivers

I have hp laptop with the old v1 gobi drivers and MWconn works great with the QCWWAN.dll loaded.
But this new laptop has newer hardware and uses v2 gobi drivers, which means the QCWANN.dll is now QCWANN2k.dll.

MWconn wont recognise the modem card...

Has anyone overcome this yet ???

Have you tried to rename the dll file?

Ok tried that...:(

Lets put in a little more detail:
Original unit -HP5101 mini
Modem lists as: HP un2400 Mobile Broadband Module Modem
Drivers: Modem.sys , qcusbserhp.sys

All works sweet on this laptop.

Second unit -HP5310 ProBook
Modem lists as: HP un2420 Mobile Broadband Module Modem
Drivers: Modem.sys , qcusbserhp2k.sys

Doesn't detect modem :(

Both machines appear physically identical just the probook is bigger..
It also appears they use identical files, just all have the '2k' on the end with the probook...

I have tried to rename the QCWWAN2K.dll to QCWWAN.dll and this had no effect.
I have tried to 'encourage' the modem to load the older drivers but it refuses.

GRRRRRR...
